Polls

Premium
Button-driven polls with live results — option limits, who may create them, multiple votes and auto-close.

Polls are created in Discord with /poll-create. The dashboard sets the rules those polls follow: how many options they may have, who may create them, and how voting behaves.

Options

Minimum options

2–25 · default 2

The fewest choices a poll must include. Two is the floor — a one-option poll is an announcement.

Maximum options

2–25 · default 5

The most choices a poll may include. 25 is Discord's cap on select-menu options.

The maximum must be greater than or equal to the minimum. Saving a maximum below the minimum is rejected rather than silently corrected.

Five is a good ceiling for readability. Above roughly eight options, results become hard to compare at a glance and voters start picking the first thing they recognise.

Permissions

Creator role

Optional

Members with this role may create polls even without the Manage Messages permission.

Leave it empty and poll creation requires Manage Messages, which in practice means staff only.

Set it to something like @Event Host when you want a specific group running polls without giving them message-management powers.

Voting

Allow multiple votes

True/false · default false

When on, a member can pick more than one option in the same poll.

Use for
Off"Which one?" — a single decision, results add up to 100 %
On"Which of these interest you?" — checkbox-style, results are independent

Auto-close after

0–10080 minutes (7 days) · default 0 (Off)

Automatically closes polls after this many minutes and posts the final result. 0 keeps polls open until someone runs /poll-close.

Useful values: 60 for a quick decision, 1440 (24 h) so every timezone gets a chance to vote, 10080 (7 days) for something that needs real turnout.

Set an auto-close. Polls that never close accumulate in the channel and nobody knows whether the result is final.

Behaviour notes

  • Voting is by button; results update live in the poll message.
  • A member changing their vote replaces the previous one when multiple votes are off.
  • Closing a poll freezes the result — the buttons stop accepting input but the message stays.
  • These settings apply to polls created after the change; polls already running keep the rules they were created with.
