A counter is a voice channel whose name is a number: 👥 1,234 Members, 🚀 12 Boosts,
🟢 87 Online. It sits at the top of your sidebar and updates itself.

You add a counter in the dashboard and save. Within a few minutes Cloudy creates the channel for you, locks it so nobody can join, and starts keeping the name current.
That is the important difference to most other settings: you are not pointing Cloudy at an existing channel, you are asking it to make one. Which also means the channel is Cloudy's to manage — see Deleting a counter below.

Everything that is not {count} is printed exactly as you wrote it, emojis included. The number is
grouped in the server's language — 1,234 in English, 1.234 in German. If you leave {count}
out, the number is appended at the end of the name.
The finished name is cut off at Discord's 100-character limit. A long template plus a five-digit member count can cross it.

The category to create the channel under. Leave it empty to place the counter at the top level of the channel list. To move a counter later, delete it and create a new one.
The sweep runs every 5 minutes, but a counter is only renamed when its name actually changed — a member count that has not moved costs nothing and triggers no API call.
Consecutive renames of the same channel are additionally spaced 9 minutes apart. This is not a Cloudy limitation: Discord allows only two channel renames per ten minutes, per channel. Exceed it and the rename is silently dropped for the rest of the window, so Cloudy stays deliberately under the line.
Switching the plugin off pauses the updates; the channels stay where they are with their last name.
Delete the counter in the dashboard. Cloudy owns the channel, so removing the row is what tells it to clean up: on the next sweep it deletes the channel and only then forgets about it. The list shows the row as "removing" until then.
Deleting the channel directly in Discord also works — Cloudy notices and drops the counter — but it will not recreate the channel. Add the counter again in the dashboard if you want it back.
Cloudy needs Manage Channels to create, rename and delete counter channels, and View Channels in the category you place them under. Without Manage Channels nothing is created and no error appears in Discord — check the dashboard's counter list, where a row stays at "creating channel".
